Here is the East Tennessee eventing weekend our guests keep repeating — three phases at River Glen Equestrian Park, and a working farm to come home to each night.
Friday: arrive and exhale
Check in from 4 PM, park the rig on level gravel, and let the drive fall away on a porch that looks over Highland cattle instead of a parking lot. Your room is already dressed — robes hanging, a Gelato Brothers 4-pack in the freezer with espresso pods for a brogatto, flowers from the farm's own beds.
Saturday: dressage and show jumping
River Glen is about ten miles up the road, so a 8:30 ride time doesn't mean a 5 AM alarm. The park runs Starter through Advanced/Intermediate divisions, and the June trials add FEI CCI2*-S and CCI3*-S — proper sport, close to home base. Back at the farm, the grill and the fire ring are yours.
Sunday: cross-country, then cows
Run your course in the morning. In the afternoon, trade horses for Highlands: our Premium Highland Cow Experience is two hours in the pasture with the herd — brushing coats even a groom would envy, photos your barn group chat will not believe. Prefer to stay quiet? Cast a line for catch-and-release catfish on the two-acre pond, or just watch the fields from the porch.
