Every farm stay at Cedar Pond Farms comes with a two-acre pond and a quiet bank to fish from. Bluegill and catfish live there, we stock the pond every couple of years, and many of the fish have reproduced on their own. Some of the catfish are over 10 pounds.
Catch and release only
Every fish goes back in the water. That rule keeps the pond healthy and the big catfish growing, and it makes the pond easy for families: nobody cleans a fish, and everybody gets to see one up close.
Do you need a fishing license?
At the farm, no. Cedar Pond Farms holds a current Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) Resident Fish Farmer / Catch-Out Pond license, and TWRA's rules say customers of a licensed catch-out operation do not need an individual sport fishing license. At a public lake such as Douglas or Cherokee, you do need a Tennessee fishing license unless you qualify for an exemption. See our fishing page for a copy of our license and a link to the rule. This is not legal advice, and rules can change.
A 90-minute catfish session with a farm guide
We are getting a guided catfish session ready. It covers safety and casting, hook tying, hook removal by your guide, how to hold a catfish safely, and photos of your visit. A lakeside campfire will be an optional extra. Ask us and we will tell you when it opens.
TWRA has been here before
TWRA has held events at the farm over the years, including a Take a Kid Fishing Day sponsored by Walmart.
