Here's a three-day East Tennessee itinerary our guests run again and again — Sevierville's most distinctive attractions by day, a working farm as base camp.
Day one: underground
Forbidden Caverns is the area's great oddity — a guided walk through a vast cave system of grottoes and a crystal-clear stream, and it happens to sit on the farm's side of Sevierville, making it our closest neighbor among the big attractions. Cool underground hours, then home to the porch while the Parkway crowd is still parking.
Day two: up the mountain
SkyLand Ranch stacks the Horizon Skyride, the Wild Stallion mountain coaster and miniature-animal encounters onto one ridge with long Smokies views. Round out with Rainforest Adventures if the weather turns, or the aviation museum for the plane-minded.
Day three: the real Smokies
Great Smoky Mountains National Park is the region's crown — 800-plus miles of trail, wildlife at dawn, no admission gate. Go early from the farm, picnic high, and be back for a golden-hour cast on our two-acre catch-and-release catfish pond.
Threaded through it all: the farm
Fresh eggs each morning, the Highland herd at the fence each evening, and — set aside two hours — the Premium Highland Cow Experience, where the itinerary's best animal encounter turns out to live at your own address. Pick your base camp from suites to whole buildings.
