Merlin's Secret Code: Ask the Farm's Own Cow Before You Book

A visitor hand-feeding a shaggy Scottish Highland cow at Cedar Pond Farms near the Smoky Mountains

If you got here by searching for a Cedar Pond Farms coupon, here is the part no coupon site knows: there is a discount code, it is real, and you have to ask for it. Nobody mails it out, nobody posts it, and it does not sit on a banner. It is a secret the farm keeps on purpose — and the one who keeps it is a cow.

Meet Merlin

Merlin is the fluffy Highland in the bottom-right corner of every page on this site — the little chat helper who answers real questions about the herd, the experiences, farm stays and booking. He is named after one of our own bulls, he knows the farm better than most of the people who work here, and he has one job nobody else on the site has: he holds the secret code.

How to ask

Open the chat and ask him about coupons. That is genuinely it — plain words, the way you would ask a person. “Any discount codes today?” works. So does “Merlin, is there a coupon?” He may help. When he can, he will hand you a link rather than a code, and that link is where the rest happens.

Why there is an account, and why the code is yours alone

Merlin’s link asks you to create a quick account with the farm — your name and email, or one tap with Google. Then the code is minted for you, tied to that account, good once. A code somebody copied off a forum will not work at our checkout, because it was never theirs. That is the whole point: this is not a coupon floating around the internet, it is the farm saying thank you to a particular person who came and asked. It also means the next time you book, you are already on file with us — a guest, not a stranger.

What it is good for

The secret code takes something off a Fluffy Cow Experience — a Self-Guided visit, a Standard, Premium or Platinum tour, your choice. It is for the experiences, not the farm stays or the shop, and it is good for a little while after Merlin gives it to you, so it is for a visit you are actually planning, not one you might take someday. The code itself tells you its date when it arrives.

The honest fine print, in words

It is a secret for a reason: Merlin can only help so many people in a day, and we are not going to say how many. If you ask and he tells you today’s are spoken for, that is not a no — it is a not-yet. Your account is still made, and the farm’s day turns over at midnight Eastern, so come back and ask him again. And please do not post the code anywhere; it will not work for anyone but you, and it spoils a nice surprise for the next person who thought to ask.

The other honest way to save

Our free Herd Quiz series still hands you a real $10 off a Fluffy Cow Experience after three short quizzes about Highland cattle, no purchase required — and that one is not a secret at all. Between the quiz and a word with Merlin, nobody who takes five minutes should pay full price for a first visit.

The visit is the point

None of this is about the cheapest ticket. It is a working Highland cattle farm in the foothills of the Smokies, and the reason people come back is the herd — the shaggy coats, the calm way a half-ton animal meets a stranger, the quiet of the pasture at the end of a tour. Ask the cow, take the thank-you, then spend the visit on the part that matters. Book your Highland cow experience and come meet them — Merlin included.
